After her parents died, Sapphira was locked away in her castle by her wicked aunt Agath. But, on her 18th birthday, the castle gates finally open. Unable to hide her any longer, a party is thrown to find Sapphira a husband from one of six other kingdoms in the whispering isles. Sapphira isn’t interested in marriage. She wants to escape. A pirate king grants that wish when he comes to take her throne. Fleeing the kingdom to keep herself from the king’s dangerous hands, Sapphira stumbles down into a portal and into to a new world. She lands in Suleihaerin, and more specifically, into Isabel’s arms. 

Isabel is a chimera healer, and magical creature researcher. She lives alone with her best friend and bonded dragon at the edge of the village where she studies the flora and fauna, but her dream is to travel and make new discoveries. Except, before her death, Isabel’s mother warned her to stay hidden for her own safety. When Sapphira arrives, that all changes.

Sapphira vows to protect Isabel on her travels in exchange for taking her in and hiding her from the Pirate King who she fears is still after her. Sapphira joins Isabel on her adventure across Suleihaerin, and will do anything to protect her. And, on their journey, Isabel begins to melt the ice around Sapphira’s heart.
